I think it’s evident that nobody is going to read your work if you don’t have something that hooks them in. In other words, you only have the first one or two sentences to entice a reader to read your piece. It’s really that simple.

I understood that concept when a journalist asked me what my two top lines are. I had no idea what that meant until I asked one of my journalist friends…
